Online Course Proctor Service

The Testing Center will make available a proctor service for faculty and students of CSU's undergraduate online courses.

Proctor Service for Faculty of Online Courses

The Testing Center will proctor two exams for the instructor of an online course. This will include all students in the course.*

The service will include:

  • securing exam materials
  • taking attendance
  • verifying identity of each student
  • employing security procedures
  • administering the exam in a quiet and secure environment
  • monitoring of students
  • returning scantrons and other exam materials to the instructor

The service will not include scanning or grading of exams, or copying of test materials.

Exams can be paper-based or computer-based (depending on software) and all exam materials will be provided by the instructor.

The service will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, cannot be guaranteed for all instructors and must be requested in advance to the Testing Center. Faculty that utilize this option will have $50 per testing student deducted from the faculty share of the course fee.

Procedure for Requesting Proctor Service:

  1. Call Dr. Hassenplug in the Testing Center, 706-507-8017, or submit Request for Proctor Service online form to Testing Center by the next working day after the end of the Schedule Chance period. The form can be found in the navigation pane to the left under "Request Proctor Service" or in Advising and Instructional Support under the Faculty Tab in CougarNet.
  2. The Testing Center will determine if request can be granted and will contact instructor by the end of that week.
  3. Test Center will inform comptroller that $50 per student must be transferred to Testing Center account from the faculty share of the course fee.
  4. At least two business days prior to testing, instructor must provide the following to the Testing Center:
    • a roster of students permitted to test
    • materials and aids that students are permitted to use
    • all testing materials for each student, such a blue books, scantrons,  tests,  passwords, etc.
  5. Testing Center will secure all test materials.
  6. Instructor will inform students that they must presernt driver's license or other government-issued ID in order to test.
  7. After testing, Testing Center will return all testing materials and roster to instructor.

*Student that are not located in proximity to Columbus should make an appointment with a testing center at a college or university near them to have their exams proctored. Students can locating testing centers from the Consortium of College Tests Center's web page (www.ncta-testing.org/cctc). Details, such as hours, fees, location, of all participating testing centers are provided.

Proctor Service for Students of Online Courses

The Testing Center will proctor exams for individual students in online courses who are not able to attend the regularly scheduled exam that is proctored by the instructor.

Students who are not able to take an exam can take a make-up exam at the Testing Center. This service is subject to availability. The instructor will refer the student to the Testing Center. The student will make an appointment at the Testing Center, contact the instructor with appointment details, and request that the instructor deliver (campus mail, email, fax) all exam materials to the Testing Center. The student will pay the $50 exam fee to the Testing Center at the time of the appointment. The fee can be paid by cash, check, money order, Visa, MasterCard, or American Express.
